Permai Village Cafe is a vegetarian delight if you want delicious veggie food that is full of flavour.

Overlooking Casa Permai Park in Tanjung Bungah, with a scenic view of the hills as a backdrop, Permai Village Cafe is a veggie heaven.

Permai Village Cafe offers a variety of dishes that will delight even the hardened carnivore. The menu ranges from popular western dishes such as sandwiches, wraps, burger, spaghetti, pasta and pizza, to local favourites such as fried rice and noodle dishes.

Step inside and you will be greeted by a clean and light interior. The cafe is decorated simply in warm earthy tones, with white walls, dark wood furniture and interesting wall art. A sense of calm pervades.

The western delights include the popular quesadilla made with melted cheese, tomato sauce and veggies in tortilla bread and the burger and fries served with a crisp salad.

Asian delights include a delightful claypot tofu served with rice as well as noodle dishes such as mee goreng, hokkien char. They also do a spicy laksa johor which comes highly recommended.

Apart from the a la carte menu there is a lunch time rice set menu which changes daily. On this visit the nasi lemak was on offer. Deliciously spicy, the nasi lemak comes with with a serving of potato/tofu and tempeh in a tasty sauce, spinach and a pyramid of steamed rice topped with chili sauce.

To quench your thirst, various teas and juices are available. Recommended is the mixed fruit tea which is full of fresh fruit and sweetened with honey.

What is refreshing about Permai Village Cafe is that it serves delicious and tasty vegetarian food at an affordable price with no fake meat or fish in sight.

Cost: Between RM6 – RM12 per dish.

Location: Permai 32, 16 Lebuh Lembah Permai 4, Tanjung Bungah, 11200 Penang.

Open: Tuesday to Friday: 11.30am to 2.30pm and 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Saturday: 11.30am to 2.30pm and 6.30pm to 10pm. Sunday: 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Closed: Monday.

Parking: Easily available around the Casa Permai Park.

Recommendation: Get some exercise by taking a walk around the park before you go home.
