What makes Idealite a wholesome dining experience? Apart from the décor, Idealite’s philosophy is on tasty, fresh food that is healthy and nutritious. You won’t find white sugar, white salt, MSG, synthetic colourings or preservatives in the food. Instead they use whole grains, brown sugar, rock salt and fruits and vegetables that have been cleaned in an ozone machine to remove chemicals and pesticides.

Start your meal with some amazing looking salads such as curry tofu salad, coral salad with yogurt or a walnut veggie salad. Or you can choose from different types of vege sushi. The vege sushi is an Idealite favourite and the one we chose is more like a popiah (a Chinese spring roll). It’s packed full of carrot, cabbage, jicama, cucumber slices and lettuce with a delicious lime dressing.

Mains include a variety of rice and noodle sets. Favourites include black pepper eryngii mushroom rice, red curry ramen, green curry rice and vegetarian bak kut teh rice. Another popular dish is the Taiwanese 3 cup chicken and rice set. Obviously there is no chicken in this dish, but delicious mushrooms, vegetables, nicely spiced with red chili.

Another favourite is the vegetarian nasi lemak set. This healthy veggie version serves the brown rice without coconut milk and with delicious spicy curry sweet potatoes. You also get slices of tofu, beans, cashews and fried seaweed, chili paste and soup.

Idealite is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Penang, serving healthy, nutritious and creative food in a quiet, clean and bright environment. The staff are friendly and well-informed and will tell you exactly what’s in the food if you ask. What is especially useful is that against some dishes on the menu are symbols which will tell you if it contains onion, garlic, egg or chilies.

  1. Greetings from St. Nicholas’ Home! My colleagues and I enjoy your food very much. We are at Jalan Bagan Jermal, working with the blind – training them in various programs. I have a massage trainer from Guangzhou from 22 – 29 Jan 2014. I’d like to ask for your sponsorship of lunch pack for him and family (his wife and 10 year-old son – kid’s portion) for about 7 days. Our office tel no is 229 0800. Hope to hear a positive response from you. Thanks.
