I Love Vege in Queensbay Mall is a rare find, a vegetarian eatery in a shopping mall, run by a committed vegetarian who wants to show people that meatless food can not only be healthy, but tasty and satisfying.
The menu has a decidedly international flavour to it, but is heavily influenced by the simplicity and tastiness of Japanese cuisine.
I Love Vege has a clear concept of their food which is that every meal should include colourful fresh vegetables, be at least 30 – 50% raw and use simple cooking methods such as steaming or boiling. In keeping with their international flavour, they use ingredients such as miso, seaweed, mushrooms, home made kimchee and vinegar in their cooking.
The must try basil spaghetti was nicely flavoured with basil, mushroom and olive oil, and came with broccoli, cauliflower and tomatoes.
Their salads are not just the boring lettuce and tomato, but are creative and innovative. For example there is wakame and taugeh salad, seasoned wakame salad, papaya carpaccio salad, Japanese baby spinach salad and the nutrient packed “I Love Vege” salad shown below.
A popular lunchtime treat for both adults and kids are the the tortilla wraps including the mouth-watering hamburg wrap. It consists of a burdoch, soya protein and mushroom burger, stuffed with fresh raw vegetables and topped with eggless mayo and ketchup. You can add some fries and mushroom soup for a small extra charge.
Not only do I Love Vege offer healthy, tasty and creative food, but also provide outside catering and cookery classes. If you love to eat their food, I Love Vege offer easy cooking classes where you can learn to make sushi, salads and snacks and rice dishes.
