Kompleks Makanan MPPP

Located behind the Vistana Hotel and CEO building, this food court contains a range of different cuisines. The front row is mainly non-veg Malay food, but the back row is full of of vegetarian food stalls including Xiang Yun Vegetarian Hut which serves local style dishes such as Hokkien mee, Loh mee, Curry mee, Laksa and Jawa mee (Open from 6.30am, closed Wed and Thurs). You can find cheap economy rice options, noodle dishes and Indian food courtesy of the Hare Krsna food stall. There is also Vege West which serves Western veggie dishes such as burgers and pizza without onion and garlic (Monday to Saturday 6-10pm).

This family-owned hawker centre at Jalan Tembikai, next to the traffic lights, is only open in the evenings. There are vegetarian stalls on one side and a few non-vegetarian stalls at the other side. It is famous for its bak kut teh (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian), the center also has stalls selling vegetarian wantan mee, curry mee, nasi lemak, chee cheong fun, burgers, popiah and char koay teow.

Mayway Vegetarian Coffee House

Serving a variety of fried rice, noodle dishes and Western dishes as well as sandwiches and snacks.

Symple Cafe

Serving dishes such as  Myanmar noodles, tian mee mee and loh mee. No MSG.

Simpang Ampat/Bukit Tambun

Vegetarian restaurant and health food shop using healthy ingredients such as sea salt, brown rice and rice bran oil. Serving local delights including bak kut teh, nasi lemak, nasi ulam, lei cha rice, mee jawa, laksa, lor mee, beancurd and fried rice dishes as well as set meals. Beverages include home made roselle drink, luo han guo and fresh veggie juice. Some dishes contain onion, garlic and egg.

Atap Kopitiam Vegetarian Corner
1736 Jalan Bukit Tambun, 1410 Simpang Ampat, Penang. Open: 7am to 3pm.
Serves local dishes such as loh mee, laksa, curry mee and curry rice. Also kuih-muih, siew pau and kaya puffs. They do not use egg, garlic or onion.

Nibong Tebal

    • Sorry for the delay in replying. I haven’t been to this place so I’m not sure where it is. The phone number I had is disconnected, so I’m not sure if it is still in business. I will investigate further and let you know. Thanks.

  4. Actually there are two in Sungai Dua, one is directly opposite Tesco Extra, It’s called “Fo You Yuan” if not mistaken, and another one is “Guan Yin Ting”, which is just less than 50 metres from Fo You Yuan.
