  1. Dear editor, one restaurant that you hv missed out is Bok Garden at Kedah Road, I frequent the place, my ratings are
    Food 4.5/5
    Hygiene 5/5
    Price 4/5
    Parking is convenient.

  2. Any place can find ginger free vegetarian food?

I am allergic to ginger since born.
Ginger will cause ulcer, flu, fever and diarrhoea to me.

  3. Most of these vege restaurant are selling very expensive foods, why not recommend restaurant that’s have a fair price like below rm 3.00 or as you give.

    • If you can let me know of any vegetarian restaurants that serve food for under RM3 I would be grateful. There are a couple of veggie places that work on a donation only basis such as Annalakshmi and Ren Ci. This is not a list of places that I recommend, but an impartial list of vegetarian eateries in Penang.

    • This kind of comment amplifies the whole problem of eating well, not only in Penang but everywhere. What the hell are you going to get for under RM3 that is remotely good for you? It’s about time the stingy people of Penang started to realise that they have to pay a bit extra for food that’s not fried, using cheap transfatty oils, msg to make it taste acceptable, over use of pesticides. Keep eating RM3 meals and die of diabetes or heart disease at 55 with a healthy bank account. If you can’t prioritize healthy food and paying for healthy food, then you’ve missed the point of eating well.

      • I do agree with your point that Penangites generally seem to value money over the value they can buy with that money, and the short-term thinking driven by this impoverished attitude is harmful to both the individual and the society. However, I do know several 30-simethings living on the island that have food budgets of RM15 per day. These are hard working professionals… Who are suffering the outcome of the general refusal of Penang to spend money on quality. Let’s cut these vegetarians some slack!

    • Lily’s Vegetarian Kitchen, 1st Floor, 98 Noble House, Madras Lane, 10400 Penang. Open: Tuesday to Sunday: 8am to 9.30pm. Closed Monday.
